Nearly two decades after first stepping into the spotlight as a blonde-wigged pop star with a double life, Hannah Montana is getting the anniversary celebration fans have been waiting for. The newly announced 20th anniversary special, affectionally dubbed the "Hannahversary," is set to premiere March 24th on Disney+, marking 20 years since the series debuted in 2026.

The special will feature an in-depth interview with Cyrus hosted by Alex Cooper of Call Her Daddy, filmed in front of a live audience. Producers promise a nostalgic look back at the show's cultural impact, including never-before-seen archival footage and recreations of iconic sets like the Stewart family living rooms and Hannah's legendary closet.

Beyond the nostalgia, the anniversary underscores the franchise's

lasting impact on the music business. The Hannah Montana soundtracks were commercial powerhouses, with multiple releases topping the Billboard 200 and helping pioneer a blueprint for modern pop crossovers between television and music. "When the first soundtrack debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2006, it made history as the first TV soundtrack to ever debut at the top spot. As Billboard reports, Cyrus remains the youngest artist to have four No. 1 albums in less than three years."

The milestone also arrives at a pivotal moment in Cyrus's relationship with the character's music. For years after the show ended, she was not allowed to perform Hannah Montana songs despite them featuring her voice and likeness. That restriction was lifted after she was inducted as a Disney Legend in 2024, giving her the ability to officially perform the franchise's music again — a full-circle development that adds weight to the anniversary celebration.

The pairing of Cyrus and Cooper also carries a full-circle moment: Cyrus appeared on Call Her Daddy in 2020, one of Cooper's earliest major celebrity interviews.

"Hannah Montana will always be a part of who I am," Cyrus said in a statement. "The fact that it still means so much to people all these years later is something I'm very proud of. This 'Hannahversary' is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who've stood by me for 20 years."

With teasers clips and nostalgic post already circulating across Cyrus's socials, the Hannahversarry is shaping up to be more than a reunion — it's a love letter to fans who grew up living the "best of both worlds," while highlighting a franchise that helped redefine the intersection of television, touring, and pop music.
