Charli XCX is coming out with her 9th studio album as Charli XCX called, "Wuthering Heights" this Friday, February 11, 2026. Fans are eagerly awaiting her new album after the smash hit album, "Brat" came out in the summer of 2024 and started a whole movement online with "Brat Summer" being shared everywhere.
Charli XCX got her start in the music industry back in 2008 where she would play in a lot of warehouse raves. She would release her first ever studio album called "True Romance" back in April 2013. But before that, she would gain mainstream recognition with her collaboration with Icona Pop and their song, "I Love It", becoming a smash hit back in 2012. Ever since then, she has been riding the techno wave and pumping out high energy techno bangers. But this project seems a bit different.
To give her fans a taste of what is to come, she released her newest single, "Wall of Sound" on January 16 of this year. It is a very different sound from her previous work, "Brat". While "Brat" was more chaotic, techno, dance, and house music inspired. This track is more laid back, with orchestral touches and layered vocals with it having the wall of sound vibe to it, just like the title of the song. It is an interesting diversion from her previous work, but still retains the chaotic nature of her music with all of the random vocal effects and a feeling of anxiety when listening to this song.
You can never really predict what Charli XCX is going to do with her music, which is the charm behind Charli XCX. With this new single sounding so different from her previous works, it could be a diversion to what the album sounds like. That would be something that Charli would do. For all that I know, it could be something like "Brat" or this could be a new direction for the eclectic artist that is Charli XCX. But, we will have to wait and see this Friday!
