Taylor Swift Releases ‘Lavender Haze’ Music Video

“Meet me at midnight.” The American Music Award’s 2022 Artist of the Year, Taylor Swift, just released a self-directed music video for her song “Lavender Haze.” The song is the first on Taylor’s most recent album Midnights, which released in October of last year. Since then, the album has attained over 6 million units sold and broken global streaming records.

Swift began writing and directing her own music videos in 2019 for “The Man.” The newfound freedom she received from being her own director has enabled her to incorporate more creativity into her videos, and it hasn’t gone without notice. “Lavender Haze” yet again proves that Taylor Swift is not only an astounding singer-songwriter, but also an extremely effective storyteller.

With eye-catching visuals of constellations and Koi fish, Swift paints the picture of a world in which love is the only thing that truly matters. Filling out this world, Taylor (played by herself) and her lover (played by faith Ashley) forget their worries through a foggy dance and shades of purple.
