Exclusive Interview with THE DAMED
THE DAMED is an unapologetic Los Angeles punk infused post punk band fronted by guitarist-vocalist Heather Hellskiss and drummer Watts Yoshizawa.
How are you taking charge of your music right now? By not conforming to a particular genre mold that is dictated by the music business. I stay authentic to my creative soul. How are you charging up while promoting your latest music? Rehearsing our songs and getting ready for shows really amps us up! What is a big declaration you want to make known when it comes to your music? This is my platform to expose political and social unrest. I also acknowledge and shed light on the discrimination of women, queer people and other minorities experience on a daily basis melding a personal response to these complex issues and an observation on how humanity reacts. Is there more of you as an artist that fans haven't seen yet? My vocal tone comes across as bold in our songs which sometimes masks the vulnerability. What do you have lined up performance wise for your fans to listen to the music? We are in the process of rehearsing our new material and gearing up to book shows and be on the stage again soon! Is there something that you could take it or leave it when it comes to the music industry? False marketing and ingenuities. Before you get into what you'll be making next, what is something that is the deal breaker for you on whether the project gets made? Compromising anything to do with changing the music.
