Exclusive Interview: Makes my Blood Dance

How are you taking charge of your music right now?

Evan: John and I are talking daily in regards to new ideas, sharing music and just keeping the ball rolling. It's been that way from the beginning, I think we have a mutual artistic respect and also a spiritual bond that doesn't make it feel tedious. Currently we have "Together Apart" music video in final edits, getting final mixes for Ragnarock album, getting artwork ready, and getting strategy and campaign materials to our marketing teams. In between all that we continue to write and record.

How are you charging up while promoting your latest music?

Evan: I am always charging up, but I think during the holidays we always lean more on our spiritual work than anything else. Life seems to slow down and the Higher Power is a source of great comfort for both of us. For me, I'm meditating, practicing yoga and playing ice hockey.

What is a big declaration you want to make known when it comes to your music?

Evan: If I wanted to make a declaration in this format I would have been a journalist or a writer. If you want to feel what we feel and experience any sort of inspiration associated with what I have to say then listen to the music and watch the Makes My Blood Dance videos on our Youtube channel. Together Apart is the 1st single from the newest album, set for release in Feb 2022. Give that and our whole back catalog a good hang, enjoy!

Is there more of you as an artist that fans haven't seen yet?

Evan: Of course, every day a person is someone new. You learn, you grow, you leave behind the past and step into whatever reality you want to create. Don't beat yourself up for whatever you've done or has been done to you. Realize the power of your own mind and control your thoughts.....silence them at your command.

What do you have lined up performance wise for your fans to listen to the music?

Evan: We are more focused on our TikTok channel (link below) to give everyone an inside track on how we record, how we rehearse and our innermost workings. I'm finding it very interesting to create and I think it will provide some more entertainment since we do not have any tours on the horizon at this time. There is another music video in pre-production to follow Together Apart for the second single "Wish I Knew You" - Revivalists cover

Is there something that you could take it or leave it when it comes to the music industry?

Evan: I have stopped thinking about things that are outside my control. It only leads to anxiety. Do not compete or compare and others will respect you....that's a universal law that I live by. We are doing the best we can, inspired by each other and other artists and creators in this world. Really happy to be a part of Makes My Blood Dance and we have plenty of new music coming out in the near future. I think it is important to understand technology in regards to new platforms and how artists are sharing their creations, to listen and be immersed in the artform you make for inspirational purposes and pure enjoyment...... however I have no desire to complain or discuss the music industry for better or for worse.

Before you get into what you'll be making next, what is something that is the deal breaker for you on whether the project gets made?

Evan: Good question. Many of us have expectations that we hold on to, visions of how things should be or sound. Suffering comes from not meeting those expectations. I try to find a balance with that. It's our vision so I have to guide and lead our collaborators, at the end of the day I will only release something that we are proud of - that meets a standard of creative quality judged only by ourselves. The songwriting philosophy in this band is always "Yes, and....." rather than "No or not good enough" so it's always positive vibes. Our process is a creative back and forth that nurtures the new ideas until we are excited to share.
