Eric Church Pays Tribute to the Hag

This past weekend Eric Church commemorated Merle Haggard at the Grand Ole Opry and then at a popular country music festival Country Thunder in Arizona. Church performed Haggard’s “The Way I am”, “Footlights” and one from his own album “Pledge Allegiance to the Hag”. Arizona Republic stated that Church also included “Heaven in a Drink of Wine” at Country Thunder on Sunday. Haggard was an immense influence to Eric, in his attitude, music, and persona. After Haggards death, country stars and fans stated past memories of the Hag and how his music influenced their lives.

Merle Haggard died on his 79th birthday. The services were held this past Saturday in California on his ranch.
